Ductile iron castings are workpieces produced through ductile iron casting. These workpieces possess high strength that can rival even steel in terms of overall performance, and they can maintain high strength, toughness, and wear resistance even under complex stress conditions.
During the production of ductile iron castings, it is essential to remove the surface iron from the casting.
Surface Iron Removal from Ductile Iron Castings. On any surface, free iron will rust and cause corrosion of stainless steel. Therefore, it needs to be removed. Loose powder can generally be removed with dust. Some have strong adhesion and require special treatment as if it were embedded iron.
Beyond dust, there are many sources of surface iron, including cleaning with ordinary carbon steel wire brushes and using sand, glass beads, or other abrasives that were previously used on carbon steel, low alloy steel, or cast iron parts for shot blasting, or regrinding non-stainless steel products near stainless steel components and equipment as mentioned previously. If protective measures are not taken for stainless steel during the loading or lifting process, iron from steel cables, lifting gear, and work surfaces can easily embed or stain the surface.Have you learned something new?
Ductile iron castings are very useful products, and attention to these details during production is necessary to ensure quality.
