Gray cast iron is commonly used in automobiles to manufacture the following six components:

1. Engine block: complex in shape, requiring good casting performance and vibration damping; gray cast iron is low-cost and easy to machine.

2. Cylinder head: structurally complex, bearing temperature and pressure; gray cast iron has suitable heat resistance and casting performance.

3. Brake disc: requires wear resistance and heat dissipation; gray cast iron has stable friction performance and low cost.

4. Brake drum: similar to the brake disc, requiring wear resistance and heat dissipation; gray cast iron is equally suitable.

5. Flywheel: stores kinetic energy, requiring uniform density and vibration damping; gray cast iron has good casting performance and low cost.

6. Gearbox housing: complex in shape, requiring vibration damping and sealing; gray cast iron has obvious advantages in casting performance and cost.
