Factors Affecting The Production Cost of Steel Casting

2025-01-10

In today's overall development of the manufacturing industry, there is a competitive pressure, if steel casting manufacturers want to continue to maintain their own rapid development, in addition to increasing investment in science and technology, we can also work throttling. So in the process of casting production, what can we do to reduce costs? Before thinking about this question, we must first understand what factors can affect the production cost of castings:

First, the process production rate

Specifically, the process yield rate is equivalent to the percentage of the total weight of the casting on the same tree in the weight of the whole tree, which is related to the casting structure and the tree scheme, which may vary in the range of 30%-60%, and generally between 40-50%. So what is the relationship between cost and process yield? The relationship between cost and process yield is that the cost per kilogram of casting is equal to the cost of pouring weight per kilogram, and the cost of the front section of the process yield per kilogram of casting is inversely proportional to the process yield rate, the lower the process yield rate, the higher the cost of the front end of the casting per unit weight, and the lower the process yield rate, the more significant the impact.

Finishing

Because it will be easier to deform in the production of large steel castings, it is necessary to correct its deformation at this time, and the difficulty of shaping depends on the structure of the casting, the degree of deformation and the user's requirements for size and behavior tolerance. The cost of shaping is to be calculated separately, objectively speaking, the surface defects of the casting are unavoidable, different users or castings for different purposes, the quality requirements for the surface are not the same, before the steel casting manufacturers take orders, both parties need to determine a reasonable quality acceptance standard according to the characteristics of the casting and the surface defects that may occur, this is very important, if the customer has higher requirements for surface quality, then the cost of refurbishment is relatively high. The cost of refurbishment is mainly affected by the quality requirements of the castings and the first-pass rate of the castings, the former needs to be considered in the pricing, while the latter depends on internal quality control. The cost of refurbishment can be adjusted on the basis of the average cost of reprocessing by multiplying the appropriate quality class factor.

Sand removal

Some castings will have slender holes or narrow grooves, which is more difficult to clean the castings, and it is necessary to bite acid, blast or drill sand to clean up. Such castings need to be estimated separately for the cost of sand removal.

Renovation

The process of casting production is a special production process, and there are many factors that can affect the quality of castings in this process. The cost difference of processing steel castings mainly comes from the three aspects of sand cleaning, correction and refurbishment mentioned above, and its cost depends on the structure and technical requirements of the castings.
